It has been quite a while since I've been on here, it's been a fantastic 5 weeks as I travelled around Asia with my partner Lucie, I didn't want to come back but all good things must come to an end as they say. We arrived in Gatwick around Midday from Bangkok and with in two hours I was rod in hand and marching the bank in search of a Trout, it wasn't about size yesterday, I just wanted to catch.
Catch I did but the effort was rewarded with something that fought dirtier than a spotty, there could only be one culprit....meet the nice stocky Chub that took a liking to my fly, I didn't weigh her but I put it down as a good 4lb+. I know Chub are out of season but catching them on a wet fly in unavoidable and something I unfortunately could not control, therefore it's a silly fish and I look happy with a fin-perfect chevin.
On the light gear it was a pleasure as usual but on the Trout front I was made to wait until the last knockings as a spirited pound pluser showed me what it's all about, tail walks, the lot. Great fun in fairly testing conditions but it felt very good to be back on the bank and back in Blighty.
