Double Figure Barbel Challenge. Updated 4th February 2024.

 I have decided to attempt to cross the length and breadth of the country in search of a double-figure Barbel from 40 of our country's rivers where they are present. The list will include titans such as the Thames, Trent, Hants Avon, and the Severn but then much lesser rivers will also be on the radar.

 The list is taken from the BFW home page and I know a couple of those records aren't up to date but still registered as doubles, so that is fine with me as this challenge isn't to break any river records, it is simply to register a 10lb+ specimen off of each of the below rivers.

 There will be a couple of omissions once I determine that a specific river can not provide me with a chance of a specimen Barbel, so the list here is not final.

 Rivers target counter: 24 out of 40.

 The list I am working towards is as follows;

 1: Anker -

  1. There are Wensum barbel, incredibly some small ones so there must be some mature fish left......

    1. I would love to think so. It’s a river I feel is kept very close to peoples chests and not much gets let out.

      Could there be a few doubles in there? I wouldn’t bet against it, but feel that it maybe one of those rivers that’ll be out of my reach in terms of what is needed to be put in. Not that I’m shy of a challenge I just know my capabilities and feel this one could just be beyond me unfortunately. But you never know in angling!
